IIA NZ Audit Leaders Network Forum: August 2025

Overview:

IIA NZ is pleased to host the next Audit Leaders Network Forum - a key gathering of senior internal audit professionals from across Aotearoa New Zealand. This forum provides a space for Chief Audit Executives (CAEs) and Heads of Internal Audit to connect, collaborate, and explore innovative ideas to advance internal audit's impact within their organisations.

This special session features a thought-provoking keynote from internationally recognised speaker Tim J. Leech, Founder and Managing Director of Risk Oversight Solutions Inc., and a leading advocate for audit transformation and governance innovation.

Criteria for Participation in the IIA NZ Audit Leaders Forum:

The IIA NZ Audit Leaders Forum is designed for Chief Audit Executives (CAEs) or those in equivalent senior leadership roles in Internal Auditing across New Zealand and the Pacific. Attendees must be IIA NZ members with significant experience and/or professional qualifications such as CIA, CISA, or equivalent certifications. Serving as a mentorship platform for senior internal audit leaders, the forum explores key topics in Internal Auditing, Governance, and Risk Assurance. It provides valuable insights and strategies to enhance professional practice and navigate the evolving Internal Audit landscape. These forums are conducted as closed sessions under Chatham House Rules.

Key Objectives of the Forum:

  • Strategic Discussions: Deep dive into the evolving role of Internal Audit and its alignment with organisational governance and strategy.

Forum in August 2025:

Opening Session: Emma Hine (IIA NZ Board member) will serve as the forum's MC for 2025 on behalf of the IIA NZ Board.

Guest speaker: Tim Leech, Founder and Managing Director, Risk Oversight Solutions Inc.

  • Topic: Repositioning Internal Audit for Strategic Impact: An Introduction to Objective-Centric Approaches"
  • Summary: Tim will introduce the Objective-Centric Approach to ERM and Internal Auditing - a forward-thinking model that positions internal audit as a strategic partner to executive leadership and the board.

This methodology moves beyond traditional audit planning to focus on providing assurance that management and the board are receiving reliable information on risk status linked to mission-critical objectives. The result is improved decision-making, increased performance, and greater stakeholder confidence in the internal audit function.

    Participants will:

    • Explore the foundations of the Objective-Centric model
    • Learn how this approach improves audit relevance and executive alignment
    • Discuss global lessons learned and practical steps for implementation
Attendees will gain insight into how this approach improves audit relevance, increases stakeholder confidence, and aligns internal audit efforts more closely with organisational success. The session will conclude with an interactive discussion exploring practical implementation steps and global lessons learned.

Open Forum and discussion.

This is a hybrid event.
